are not aware that just east of I-75
lies a whole other world of active equestrian communities with sprawling
green pastures. Although there are equestrian properties and horse farms throughout
the Sarasota area, they are concentrated mainly in the area that runs from the
interstate east for about 10 miles.

If you are looking in Northern Sarasota County or Southern
Manatee County, you will find communities such as Desoto Acres, Magnolia Hill,
Myakka Valley Ranches, Panther Ridge, Pomello Park, Saddle Creek, Saddle Oak,
Sarasota Polo Club, and Waterbury Tracts. If you are looking in southern
Sarasota County, you will find communities such as Mission Valley Estates in
Nokomis, Myakka River Trails in Venice, Englewood Farm Acres in Englewood, and
the North Port Estates.
These horse friendly communities offer parcels from one to
ten acre lots; however, many have five or ten acre lots as a minimum. The
amenities of these equestrian properties vary, from bridle paths to riding
clubs to polo fields on site. The rural homes on these properties range from affordable-modest
ranches to stunning luxury mansions. Many of these communities are reminiscent
of old-Florida ranching days, but you still only 20 to 40 minutes from the
beautiful beaches, fantastic shopping, fine dining restaurants, downtown
Sarasota nightlife and boating options. Many are located within 20-40 minutes.
